Swift Current Comprehensive High School students dressed as literary characters did an outstanding job catering under the guidance of teacher, Marnie Gutcher. Three delicious, artistically decorated cakes awaited in front of a large wooden replica of the Willow Awards Logo created by students in Mr. James Kissick's woodworking class. Besides the cakes, chocolate-dipped strawberries, fruit sculptures, cookies, and punch were enjoyed by guests.

It was a wonderful gala that reflected the year-long cooperation of the Chinook Regional Library and the Chinook School Division. Through a "Partnerships for Community Learning Resource Grant", every school and public library in the Chinook Region received copies of all thirty of the 2006 Willow Awards books. As a result about 30% of the Willow votes this year were from this region.
