About the Author

Charles Helm

Charles Helm is from Tumbler Ridge, BC

Charles Helm is a family physician who arrived in Canada from his native South Africa in 1986. Since arriving in Tumbler Ridge in 1992, he has explored the Tumbler Ridge area extensively with his wife Linda, and his children, Daniel and Carina.

As Vice President of the Tumbler Ridge Museum Foundation, he has been involved in the discovery, research, and exhibition of local dinosaur and other palaeontological material. In addition, Charles has been instrumental in the design and construction of fifteen hiking trails, which have helped transform Tumbler Ridge into a tourist destination.

Charles is the secretary of the Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society, Tumbler Ridge's outdoor group. He has written two other books, both on Tumbler Ridge history, trails, and wilderness, and has more books in the works.

Daniel's Dinosaurs is his first book for children. Having been deeply involved in the story of his son's amazing discovery, Charles felt that the story required putting pen to paper, after witnessing the reaction of the children who learned of it.

Charles Helm lives in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.

Joan Zimmer is from Toronto, ON
