Ten year-old Francesca (Frankie) is sent to live with her biological father after her mother dies. He is a bumbling, but well-intentioned man. Frankie is left on her own. She befriends the blind, elderly neighbour who sends her on a quest to find a family heirloom at the bottom of a lake. To guide her on her journey, Augusta gives Frankie an unusual bike. Meanwhile, Frankie's father is threatened by Social Services and he realizes the importance of being a good father.
