Gummytoes, a young tree frog, allows himself to be caught by some young children because his greatest wish is to be admired. He dazzles the children with his skills but when they take him home and place him in a terrarium Gummytoes is startled and frightened. He longs to return to his natural existence so he engineers an escape plan. Gummytoes distracts the children and manages to hop away. He learns a valuable lesson about being the centre of attention and realizes that he needs to make himself happy in order to be happy.
Sean Cassidy
Sean was born and grew up in Montreal, Quebec. After receiving a B.Ed. and a B.A, he taught just about everything from English and Math to Astronomy and Geography. Before settling in Ontario, Sean and his wife, Sylvia, traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe, studying art, architecture and history. After the birth of his daughter, Maggie, he began writing and illustrating stories for, and with, her. Creating the stories was so satisfying that he decided to pursue it professionally. Having taught art and illustration in secondary school for twenty years, Sean recently left teaching in order to devote more time to writing and illustrating books.
