Gary MacDonald is a thirteen-year-old hockey player who is small for his age and playing his first year as a Bantam. When the Mexico Snow Dogs begin playing in Charlottetown, at Gary's home rink, life becomes more complicated for Gary and his friends.
Nancy L.M. Russell is an award-winning writer, broadcaster and educator on Prince Edward Island. She is originally from Winnipeg and proud of it! Nancy attended Carleton University in Ottawa where she obtained a Bachelor of Journalism degree, as well as an M.A. in Canadian Studies. She then travelled across Canada with the CBC, working in Whitehorse, Winnipeg, Toronto and finally, Charlottetown.
During her career with CBC Radio, she covered the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics and produced a series of reports on sports in Russia and Ukraine. In the spring of 2000, Nancy graduated from the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Prince Edward Island.
Nancy's first children's book, Farewell to the Ferryboats, was published in the spring of 1998. It is now part of the Grade 5 curriculum on Prince Edward Island. Also in 1998, One Magical Summer was released by Red Cliff Publishing. Both books were honoured with the L.M. Montgomery Children's Literature Award. Light the Way Home was published in Fall 2000 by Ragweed Press.
Nancy and her husband Rob are kept busy by their sons Callum and Tristan, and their canine housemates, Brontë and Contessa. They enjoy home renovations, gardening, bagpipe and piano duets and sailing
