Jean Little has written over 40 novels and picture books for children and has earned a reputation as one of Canada's most beloved authors.

Jean was born in Taiwan in 1932. Her parents were both doctors. She was born with a severe eye problem and is legally blind. Jean began writing as a child and has never stopped, despite the challenges she faced. She grew up in Ontario and graduated from the University of Toronto. She has received numerous national and international awards, including six honorary doctorates, and has been made a member of the Order of Canada for her outstanding contribution to Canadian children's literature. She travels to visit schools and libraries in Canada and around the world with her seeing-eye dog, Honey.

Her latest book Dancing through the Snow (Fall 2007) is an emotional and poignant story about an abandoned girl who with the help of a little dog finally opens her heart and finds a family to love.
