Elf is a baby eagle who worries about many things. His nest is so high and the ground is so far down. His parents find unusual ways to encourage him to overcome his fears and learn to fly. Will they be able to get Elf out of the nest?

Ron Smith

Ron Smith

Ron Smith lives on Vancouver Island in a house by the sea, where eagles soar and nest in the trees near his home. He is the author of four collections of poetry, a play and a book of short stories. Elf the Eagle, his first book for children, was short-listed for the Christie Harris Illustrated Children's Prize at the 2008 BC Book Prizes. He is currently writing a sequel to Elf's first flight.

Ron received an honorary doctorate from UBC and was the inaugural Distinguished Fulbright Chair in Creative Writing at Arizona State University. He is a graduate of UBC and Leeds University.

Ruth Campbell

Ruth Campbell is from Vancouver, BC

Ruth Campbell is a painter born and raised in Montreal. She has degrees in arts and law, and is also a graduate of the Emily Carr College of Art & Design. She lives in Vancouver with her husband Robin and their small family of four cats and two dogs.
