Flies are fascinating! There are over 100,000 species of flies, including mosquitoes. They are nature's best flyers and one of the worst threats to human health, yet they also help maintain nature's balance. This book is full of information, experiments and activities.

About the Author

Norma Dixon is from Vancouver, BC

When Norma Dixon was an advertising writer, she had to sound enthusiastic about things like water heaters and nutmeg graters. When she retired, she began to write whatever she pleased. She has had two picture books published, and nature articles run in children's magazines. As a school programs guide at the Van Dusen Botanical Garden, she couldn't find any books on worms or flies that were written in kids' language, so she wrote The Lowdown on Earthworms and Focus on Flies. She lives in Vancouver and keeps contact with kids in programs at the Vancouver Museum and Maritime Museum.
