Most of Newton's ancestors have been killed by lightning strikes, including his mother. In desperation, Newton enrolls in a school in Moose Jaw, and has to deal with wearing a kilt, hiding his pet pig Josephine, battling a competitive student, and preparing for an expedition.
Arthur Slade is the author of Dust, a national bestseller and the winner of the 2001 Governor General's Award for Children's Literature, the Mr. Christie's Book Award and a Saskatchewan Book Award. He is most recently the author of The Hunchback Assignments, Jolted (shortlisted for the Silver Birch Award), Tribes (CLA Young Adult Honour Book) and Megiddo's Shadow (winner of Saskatchewan Book Award and a Red Maple Honour Book). Slade is also the author of Monsterology, Villainology and the Canadian Chills series. He lives in Saskatoon, SK.
