Tansy is pretty lonely, with her Mom away and her Dad at work. Then she has to go to Miss Stella's after school, the strange old lady in Apartment 405. Miss Stella doesn't own a TV or a car. She eats unusual things like artichoke hearts. Miss Stella can't become a friend, can she?

Suggested Activities

  • Miss Stella teaches Tansy calligraphy and Chinese brushwork. Use a Chinesse brush or other fine tipped paint brush and explore ways of writing your name.

  • Tansy writes a letter to her mother telling her how she feels about what is going on. You might like to write a letter to someone in your family that you feel strongly about.

  • Tansy’s teacher used an EpiPen to save Devin’s life when he was having an allergic reaction. Does anyone in your class have a medical condition that requires your class to have special procedures? What are those procedures?
