Zach and Zoe enjoy the company of their neighbour Mr. Dotty. He takes them on expeditions to the nearby marshland and gives them great recycled gifts. So when they see pictures of a bank robber who looks just like Mr. Dotty they are horrified, and go looking for clues.

Kristin Butcher's first novel happened accidentally while she was teaching grade six. At the suggestion of her daughter, she submitted the story she was writing for her class to a publisher -- and they bought it! That was fifteen years ago when Kristin was living in Winnipeg. Since then she has left teaching, moved to Campbell River, BC (via a ten-year stint in Victoria), and published fourteen more books for young people, many of which have received awards. In addition to the Diamond Willow Award, Kristin currently has a book nominated for the Silver Birch Award (Pharaohs & Foot Soldiers) and another nominated for the Sheila Egoff Award (Return to Bone Tree Hill).

Zach & Zoe and the Bank Robber is the first book in the Zach & Zoe series. If you like it, you might want to read Zach & Zoe: Bully and the Beagle too. With a little luck, the third book in the series will be out in the spring of 2011.
