Stanley isn't exactly sure what beautiful is, but his people have entered him in a dog show. The good news - his friends, Alice and Nutsy and Gassy Jack, are in the contest, too. The bad news - Stanley's not so great at winning contests. As expected, chaos ensues, and love and loyalty win the day.

Before Reading:
Using a Venn diagram, brainstorm everything dogs like to do, everything people like to do and in the middle of the Venn diagram, place all the ideas that both humans and dogs like to do.
After Reading:
Add more items to the Venn diagram that came up in the book. Discuss why dogs like some things that humans don't. Are we that much different than dogs?
