I really enjoyed this book even though I don't like novels. The only thing is the ending was rapped up really quick. I like the suspence in the book and that's what made me keep reading. Good job!

As a fairly literate child, I found this book extremely well balanced in the mystery genre. There were a series of red herrings, followed by more and more, and leaved me guessing. Characters were also relatable, and sometimes odd and I had to feel sorry for them. Ending is certainly a good example of a cliff hanger, and I would strongly recommend this book.

I would do a summary of it, but I'd rather not give anything away! Overall, I’ll say it was okay, I’ve read a lot worse, but I’ve read better. It’s about a seven out of a possible ten, it’s not for everyone. I’ll start with what I loved and what I didn’t, first of all, the characters are fairly lovable, and really well developed. I love the whole early 20th century setting too. I can’t say I was crazy about the whole plot. I mean I liked the bones and the whole murder mystery, and the mystery of Dee’s mother, but I’m not one for ghost stories, and the big midwife portion of the book didn’t exactly excite me. It also had a lot of side stories that were just kind of there, and some had no purpose, some came back at the end and were key clues, but others just bored me and I think the book could do without some of them. I guess you could say parts were over written, and too much was added in some parts, which is better than being underwritten, but still, some could’ve been cut out. It was nice and descriptive though, you really got a sense of where everything was. Also, I did, like the ending and a good ending can fix a whole story. It was really exciting, and you just had to know what happened next. It ended at a good spot too, you tied up most of the loose ends, but left some of the good ones open, which was really smart of the author, this keeps people wondering what happened afterward. It was a worthy attempt, that’s how I’d word what I think about it, what with having a lot of mixed feelings about it. It takes such a long time to get into, but the ending saved it. I would recommend it for people who are into ghost stories and mysteries to check it out, but it’s definitely not for everyone.

This book was really cool and intresting. It was mind bending at the end trying to figure out who the killer was. I didn't like that you tighed the book all up in one chapter but overal it was great.Dee is one brave character.

I'm so happy to be part of the Willow Awards! And thank you guys for all your comments, and I do mean all the comments because it is important for an author to know what the reader likes and doesn't like about a story as it helps with the next book. Keep reading. Barbara Haworth-Attard
